Our Mission at Velo Kids is to get more kids on bikes, promoting and cultivating healthy, active, and outdoor lifestyles. Through engaging programs and events, we teach vital bike skills, safety, and stewardship.

Our vision is a community of happy, healthy, and confident kids, empowered by the freedom and joy of cycling.

Established in 2017 by a passionate collective of child advocates, health enthusiasts, and cycling aficionados in Holland, Michigan, Velo Kids stands as a beacon of the 501(c)3 non-profit sector.

What began as a humble gathering of 25 eager young riders has blossomed into a thriving community of 1,200 spirited kids, joyously navigating the trails. Our journey has evolved from offering free bi-weekly rides to encompassing club teams and enriching summer camps. At the heart of Velo Kids is a resolute mission: to get all kids on bikes.

We're dedicated to nurturing happy, healthy, and confident kids by encouraging active, outdoor lifestyles, imparting valuable biking skills, safety awareness, and a deep-seated sense of stewardship for the environment.

We're a close-knit crew of bicycle enthusiasts – a small but mighty team of part-time employees and volunteers. Each of us wears multiple helmets (sometimes literally!), combining our diverse skills and boundless energy to fuel our shared passion: getting more kids on bikes. From organizing thrilling bike adventures to ensuring every child has access to a bike, we're all about pedaling positivity and fostering a love for cycling in the younger generation.

In 2023, we had over 1,200 kids on bikes across all of the Velo Kids programs and partner programs. Read more about our impact in the 2023 Annual Report.
